Mark 1:9-15

CEB 9 About that time, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and John baptized him in the Jordan River. NRS 9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. CEB 10 While he was coming up out of the water, Jesus saw heaven splitting open and the Spirit, like a dove, coming down on him. NRS 10 And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. CEB 11 And there was a voice from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I dearly love; in you I find happiness." NRS 11 And a voice came from heaven, "You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased." CEB 12 At once the Spirit forced Jesus out into the wilderness. NRS 12 And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. CEB 13 He was in the wilderness for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among the wild animals, and the angels took care of him. NRS 13 He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him. CEB 14 After John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee announcing God's good news, NRS 14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, CEB 15 saying, "Now is the time! Here comes God's kingdom! Change your hearts and lives, and trust this good news!" NRS 15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news."
