Mark 3

CSB 1 Now He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a paralyzed hand. NIV 1 Another time he went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. CSB 2 In order to accuse Him, they were watching Him closely to see whether He would heal him on the Sabbath. NIV 2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath. CSB 3 He told the man with the paralyzed hand, "Stand before us." NIV 3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, "Stand up in front of everyone." CSB 4 Then He said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they were silent. NIV 4 Then Jesus asked them, "Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they remained silent. CSB 5 After looking around at them with anger and sorrow at the hardness of their hearts, He told the man, "Stretch out your hand." So he stretched it out, and his hand was restored. NIV 5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. CSB 6 Immediately the Pharisees went out and started plotting with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him. NIV 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus. CSB 7 Jesus departed with His disciples to the sea, and a great multitude followed from Galilee, Judea, NIV 7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed. CSB 8 Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and around Tyre and Sidon. The great multitude came to Him because they heard about everything He was doing. NIV 8 When they heard all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. CSB 9 Then He told His disciples to have a small boat ready for Him, so the crowd would not crush Him. NIV 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. CSB 10 Since He had healed many, all who had diseases were pressing toward Him to touch Him. NIV 10 For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him. CSB 11 Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, those possessed fell down before Him and cried out, "You are the Son of God!" NIV 11 Whenever the evil spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God." CSB 12 And He would strongly warn them not to make Him known. NIV 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell who he was. CSB 13 Then He went up the mountain and summoned those He wanted, and they came to Him. NIV 13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. CSB 14 He also appointed 12-He also named them apostles-to be with Him, to send them out to preach, NIV 14 He appointed twelve--designating them apostles--that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach CSB 15 and to have authority to drive out demons. NIV 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. CSB 20 Then He went home, and the crowd gathered again so that they were not even able to eat. NIV 20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. CSB 21 When His family heard this, they set out to restrain Him, because they said, "He's out of His mind." NIV 21 When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind." CSB 22 The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebul in Him!" and, "He drives out demons by the ruler of the demons!" NIV 22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub ! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons." CSB 23 So He summoned them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? NIV 23 So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? CSB 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. NIV 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. CSB 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. NIV 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. CSB 26 And if Satan rebels against himself and is divided, he cannot stand but is finished! NIV 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. CSB 27 "On the other hand, no one can enter a strong man's house and rob his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he will rob his house. NIV 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. CSB 28 I assure you: People will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemies they may blaspheme. NIV 28 I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. CSB 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" - NIV 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." CSB 30 because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit." NIV 30 He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit." CSB 31 Then His mother and His brothers came, and standing outside, they sent [word] to Him and called Him. NIV 31 Then Jesus' mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. CSB 32 A crowd was sitting around Him and told Him, "Look, Your mother, Your brothers, and Your sisters are outside asking for You." NIV 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, "Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you." CSB 33 He replied to them, "Who are My mother and My brothers?" NIV 33 "Who are my mother and my brothers?" he asked. CSB 34 And looking about at those who were sitting in a circle around Him, He said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! NIV 34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! CSB 35 Whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother." NIV 35 Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother."
