NRS 21 When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered around him; and he was by the sea. NRS 22 Then one of the leaders of the synagogue named Jairus came and, when he saw him, fell at his feet NIV 22 Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet NRS 23 and begged him repeatedly, "My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and live." NIV 23 and pleaded earnestly with him, "My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live." NRS 24 So he went with him. And a large crowd followed him and pressed in on him. NIV 24 So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him. NRS 25 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years. NIV 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. NRS 26 She had endured much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had; and she was no better, but rather grew worse. NIV 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. NRS 27 She had heard about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, NIV 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, NRS 28 for she said, "If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well." NIV 28 because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." NRS 29 Immediately her hemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. NIV 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. NRS 30 Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, "Who touched my clothes?" NIV 30 At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" NRS 31 And his disciples said to him, "You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, "Who touched me?' " NIV 31 "You see the people crowding against you," his disciples answered, "and yet you can ask, 'Who touched me?' " NRS 32 He looked all around to see who had done it. NIV 32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. NRS 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling, fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. NIV 33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. NRS 34 He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease." NIV 34 He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering." NRS 35 While he was still speaking, some people came from the leader's house to say, "Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?" NIV 35 While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. "Your daughter is dead," they said. "Why bother the teacher any more?" NRS 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the leader of the synagogue, "Do not fear, only believe." NIV 36 Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, "Don't be afraid; just believe." NRS 37 He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. NIV 37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. NRS 38 When they came to the house of the leader of the synagogue, he saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. NIV 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue ruler, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. NRS 39 When he had entered, he said to them, "Why do you make a commotion and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping." NIV 39 He went in and said to them, "Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep." NRS 40 And they laughed at him. Then he put them all outside, and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was. NIV 40 But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child's father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. NRS 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha cum," which means, "Little girl, get up!" NIV 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, ""Talitha koum!"" (which means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!"). NRS 42 And immediately the girl got up and began to walk about (she was twelve years of age). At this they were overcome with amazement. NIV 42 Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. NRS 43 He strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat. NIV 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.
