Matthew 10:24-39

CEB 24 “Disciples aren't greater than their teacher, and slaves aren't greater than their master. NRS 24 "A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above the master; CEB 25 It's enough for disciples to be like their teacher and slaves like their master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, it's certain that they will call the members of his household by even worse names. NRS 25 it is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher, and the slave like the master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household! CEB 26 “Therefore, don't be afraid of those people because nothing is hidden that won't be revealed, and nothing secret that won't be brought out into the open. NRS 26 "So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. CEB 27 What I say to you in the darkness, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, announce from the rooftops. NRS 27 What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops. CEB 28 Don't be afraid of those who kill the body but can't kill the soul. Instead, be afraid of the one who can destroy both body and soul in hell. NRS 28 Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. CEB 29 Aren't two sparrows sold for a small coin? But not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father knowing about it already. NRS 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. CEB 30 Even the hairs of your head are all counted. NRS 30 And even the hairs of your head are all counted. CEB 31 Don't be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows. NRS 31 So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows. CEB 32 “Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before people, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven. NRS 32 "Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; CEB 33 But everyone who denies me before people, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. NRS 33 but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven. CEB 34 “Don't think that I've come to bring peace to the earth. I haven't come to bring peace but a sword. NRS 34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. CEB 35 I've come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. NRS 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; CEB 36 People's enemies are members of their own households. NRS 36 and one's foes will be members of one's own household. CEB 37 “Those who love father or mother more than me aren't worthy of me. Those who love son or daughter more than me aren't worthy of me. NRS 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; CEB 38 Those who don't pick up their crosses and follow me aren't worthy of me. NRS 38 and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. CEB 39 Those who find their lives will lose them, and those who lose their lives because of me will find them. NRS 39 Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.
