Matthew 13:18-23

NAS 18 "Hear then the parable of the sower. NIV 18 "Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: NAS 19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. NIV 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path. NAS 20 "The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; NIV 20 The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. NAS 21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away. NIV 21 But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. NAS 22 "And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. NIV 22 The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. NAS 23 "And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty." NIV 23 But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."
