NIV 5 But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,' CEB 6 So you do away with God's Law for the sake of the rules that have been handed down to you. NIV 6 he is not to 'honor his father ' with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. CEB 7 Hypocrites! NIV 10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. CEB 11 It's not what goes into the mouth that contaminates a person in God's sight. It's what comes out of the mouth that contaminates the person." NIV 11 What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' " CEB 12 Then the disciples came and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended by what you just said?" NIV 12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?" CEB 13 Jesus replied, "Every plant that my heavenly Father didn't plant will be pulled up. NIV 13 He replied, "Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. CEB 14 Leave the Pharisees alone. They are blind people who are guides to blind people. But if a blind person leads another blind person, they will both fall into a ditch." NIV 15 Peter said, "Explain the parable to us." CEB 16 Jesus said, "Don't you understand yet? NIV 16 "Are you still so dull?" Jesus asked them. CEB 17 Don't you know that everything that goes into the mouth enters the stomach and goes out into the sewer? NIV 17 "Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? CEB 18 But what goes out of the mouth comes from the heart. And that's what contaminates a person in God's sight. NIV 18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' CEB 19 Out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adultery, sexual sins, thefts, false testimonies, and insults. NIV 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. CEB 20 These contaminate a person in God's sight. But eating without washing hands doesn't contaminate in God's sight." NIV 20 These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.' " CEB 21 From there, Jesus went to the regions of Tyre and Sidon. NIV 21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. NIV 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession." CEB 23 But he didn't respond to her at all. His disciples came and urged him, "Send her away; she keeps shouting out after us." NIV 23 Jesus did not answer a word. They laid them at his feet, and he healed them. NIV 30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. CEB 31 So the crowd was amazed when they saw those who had been unable to speak talking, and the paralyzed cured, and the injured walking, and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel. NIV 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel. CEB 32 Now Jesus called his disciples and said, "I feel sorry for the crowd because they have been with me for three days and have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away hungry for fear they won't have enough strength to travel." NIV 32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat.
