NRS 22 As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into human hands, NIV 22 When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. NRS 23 and they will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised." And they were greatly distressed. NIV 23 They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life." And the disciples were filled with grief. NRS 24 When they reached Capernaum, the collectors of the temple tax came to Peter and said, "Does your teacher not pay the temple tax?" NIV 24 After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, "Doesn't your teacher pay the temple tax ?" NRS 25 He said, "Yes, he does." And when he came home, Jesus spoke of it first, asking, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tribute? From their children or from others?" NIV 25 "Yes, he does," he replied. When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. "What do you think, Simon?" he asked. "From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes--from their own sons or from others?" NRS 26 When Peter said, "From others," Jesus said to him, "Then the children are free. NIV 26 "From others," Peter answered. "Then the sons are exempt," Jesus said to him.
