Matthew 21:10-20

NRS 10 When he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was in turmoil, asking, "Who is this?" NIV 10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?" NRS 11 The crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee." NIV 11 The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee." NRS 12 Then Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. NIV 12 Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. NRS 13 He said to them, "It is written, "My house shall be called a house of prayer'; but you are making it a den of robbers." NIV 13 "It is written," he said to them, " 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a 'den of robbers.' " NRS 14 The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he cured them. NIV 14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. NRS 15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the amazing things that he did, and heard the children crying out in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became angry NIV 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant. NRS 16 and said to him, "Do you hear what these are saying?" Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, "Out of the mouths of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise for yourself'?" NIV 16 "Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read, " 'From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise' ?" NRS 17 He left them, went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there. NIV 17 And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night. NRS 18 In the morning, when he returned to the city, he was hungry. NIV 18 Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. NRS 19 And seeing a fig tree by the side of the road, he went to it and found nothing at all on it but leaves. Then he said to it, "May no fruit ever come from you again!" And the fig tree withered at once. NIV 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered. NRS 20 When the disciples saw it, they were amazed, saying, "How did the fig tree wither at once?" NIV 20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. "How did the fig tree wither so quickly?" they asked.
