There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. CEBA 8 But all these things are just the beginning of the sufferings associated with the end. NIV 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains. CEBA 9 They will arrest you, abuse you, and they will kill you. All nations will hate you on account of my name. NIV 9 "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. CEBA 10 At that time many will fall away. CEBA 14 This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world as a testimony to all the nations. Then the end will come. NIV 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. CEBA 15 “When you see the disgusting and destructive thing that Daniel talked about standing in the holy place (the reader should understand this), NIV 15 "So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel--let the reader understand-- CEBA 16 then those in Judea must escape to the mountains. NIV 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! CEBA 20 Pray that it doesn't happen in winter or on the Sabbath day. NIV 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. CEBA 21 There will be great suffering such as the world has never before seen and will never again see. NIV 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again. CEBA 22 If that time weren't shortened, nobody would be rescued. But for the sake of the ones whom God chose, that time will be cut short. NIV 22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. CEBA 23 “Then if somebody says to you, ‘Look, here's the Christ,' or ‘He's over here,' don't believe it. CEBA 24 False christs and false prophets will appear, and they will offer great signs and wonders in order to deceive, if possible, even those whom God has chosen. NIV 29 "Immediately after the distress of those days " 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.' CEBA 30 Then the sign of the Human One will appear in the sky. At that time all the tribes of the earth will be full of sadness, and they will see the Human One coming in the heavenly clouds with power and great splendor. NIV 30 "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. CEBA 33 In the same way, when you see all these things, you know that the Human One is near, at the door. NIV 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. CEBA 34 I assure you that this generation won't pass away until all these things happen. NIV 34 I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. CEBA 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will certainly not pass away. NIV 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. CEBA 36 “But nobody knows when that day or hour will come, not the heavenly angels and not the Son. Only the Father knows. CEBA 38 In those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark. NIV 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; CEBA 39 They didn't know what was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. The coming of the Human One will be like that. NIV 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. CEBA 40 At that time there will be two men in the field. One will be taken and the other left. NIV 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. CEBA 44 Therefore, you also should be prepared, because the Human One will come at a time you don't know. NIV 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. CEBA 45 “Who then are the faithful and wise servants whom their master puts in charge of giving food at the right time to those who live in his house? NIV 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' CEBA 49 And suppose they began to beat their fellow servants and to eat and drink with the drunks? NIV 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
