Matthew 3:1-6

GW 1 Later, John the Baptizer appeared in the desert of Judea. His message was, NIV 1 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea GW 2 "Turn to God and change the way you think and act, because the kingdom of heaven is near." NIV 2 and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." GW 3 Isaiah the prophet spoke about this man when he said, "A voice cries out in the desert: 'Prepare the way for the Lord! Make his paths straight!'" NIV 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.' " GW 4 John wore clothes made from camel's hair and had a leather belt around his waist. His diet consisted of locusts and wild honey. NIV 4 John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. GW 5 Jerusalem, all Judea, and the whole Jordan Valley went to him. NIV 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. GW 6 As they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River. NIV 6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
