WEB 1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. NIV 1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. WEB 2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged: and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. NIV 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. WEB 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? NIV 3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? WEB 4 Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye? NIV 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? WEB 5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye. NIV 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. WEB 6 "Don't give that which is holy to the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. NIV 6 "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. WEB 7 "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you. NIV 7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. WEB 8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. NIV 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. WEB 9 Or what man is there of you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? NIV 9 "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? WEB 10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? NIV 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? WEB 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! NIV 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! WEB 12 Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets. NIV 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. WEB 13 Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it. NIV 13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. WEB 14 How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it. NIV 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. WEB 15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. NIV 15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. WEB 16 By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? NIV 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? WEB 17 Even so, every good tree brings forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. NIV 17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. WEB 18 A good tree can't bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. NIV 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. WEB 19 Every tree that doesn't grow good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire. NIV 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. WEB 20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. NIV 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. WEB 21 Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. NIV 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. WEB 22 Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy by your name, by your name cast out demons, and by your name do many mighty works?' NIV 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' WEB 23 Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.' NIV 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' WEB 24 "Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock. NIV 24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. WEB 25 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock. NIV 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. WEB 26 Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn't do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand. NIV 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. WEB 27 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell -- and great was its fall." NIV 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." WEB 28 It happened, when Jesus had finished saying these things, that the multitudes were astonished at his teaching, NIV 28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, WEB 29 for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes. NIV 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
