Nehemiah 13:1-3

NLT 1 On that same day, as the Book of Moses was being read, the people found a statement which said that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever be permitted to enter the assembly of God. NIV 1 On that day the Book of Moses was read aloud in the hearing of the people and there it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever be admitted into the assembly of God, NLT 2 For they had not been friendly to the Israelites when they left Egypt. Instead, they hired Balaam to curse them, though our God turned the curse into a blessing. NIV 2 because they had not met the Israelites with food and water but had hired Balaam to call a curse down on them. (Our God, however, turned the curse into a blessing.) NLT 3 When this law was read, all those of mixed ancestry were immediately expelled from the assembly. NIV 3 When the people heard this law, they excluded from Israel all who were of foreign descent.
