1 Deberes de los sacerdotes y de los levitas<br />Luego el Señor<br /> le dijo a Aarón: «Tú, tus hijos y tus parientes de la tribu de Leví serán los responsables de cualquier ofensa relacionada con el santuario; pero solo tú y tus hijos serán los responsables de las faltas relacionadas con el sacerdocio.

2 »Trae a tus parientes de la tribu de Leví —tu tribu patriarcal— para que te ayuden, a ti y a tus hijos, a realizar los deberes sagrados delante del tabernáculo del pacto.

3 Sin embargo, cuando los levitas realicen los deberes asignados en el tabernáculo, deberán tener cuidado de no acercarse a los objetos sagrados ni al altar. Si lo hacen, tanto tú como ellos morirán.

4 Los levitas te ayudarán con el cumplimiento de sus responsabilidades del cuidado y el mantenimiento del tabernáculo,<br /> pero no podrá ayudarte ninguna persona que no esté autorizada.

5 »Ustedes realizarán los deberes sagrados dentro del santuario y en el altar. Si siguen estas instrucciones, el enojo del Señor<br /> nunca jamás se encenderá contra el pueblo de Israel.

6 Yo mismo escogí a tus hermanos levitas de entre los israelitas para que sean tus ayudantes especiales. Ellos son un regalo para ti, dedicados al Señor<br /> para servir en el tabernáculo;

7 pero tú y tus hijos, los sacerdotes, deben llevar a cabo, personalmente, todos los rituales sacerdotales relacionados con el altar y con todo lo que está detrás de la cortina interior. Yo te doy el sacerdocio como un privilegio de servicio. Cualquier persona que se acerque al santuario sin estar autorizada, será ejecutada».

8 Sustento para los sacerdotes y los levitas<br />El Señor<br /> le dio más instrucciones a Aarón: «Yo mismo te he puesto a cargo de todas las ofrendas sagradas que me trae el pueblo de Israel. A ti y a tus hijos les he dado todas estas ofrendas consagradas como su porción perpetua.

9 A ti te corresponde la porción de las ofrendas sumamente santas que no se quema en el fuego. Esta porción de todas las ofrendas sumamente santas —las ofrendas de grano, las ofrendas por el pecado y las ofrendas por la culpa— será sumamente santa y te pertenece a ti y a tus hijos.

10 La comerás como una ofrenda sumamente santa. Todo varón puede comer de ella y deben tratarla como sumamente santa.

11 »También te pertenecen todas las ofrendas sagradas y las ofrendas especiales que los israelitas me presenten al levantarlas ante el altar. Yo te las he dado a ti y a tus hijos e hijas como tu porción perpetua. Todo miembro de tu familia que esté ceremonialmente puro podrá comer de estas ofrendas.

12 »También te doy las ofrendas de la cosecha que el pueblo presenta al Señor<br />: lo mejor del aceite de oliva y del vino nuevo y del grano.

13 Todas las primeras cosechas de la tierra que el pueblo presente al Señor<br /> te pertenecen. Todo miembro de tu familia que esté ceremonialmente puro podrá comer de estos alimentos.

14 »Todo lo que en Israel haya sido consagrado especialmente para el Señor<br /> también te pertenece.

15 »Todo primer nacido, sea humano o animal, que se ofrece al Señor<br />, será tuyo; pero siempre tendrán que redimir a los primeros hijos varones y a las primeras crías de los animales ceremonialmente impuros.

16 Los rescatarán al mes de haber nacido. El precio de rescate es cinco piezas de plata<br /> (calculado según el peso del siclo del santuario, que equivale a veinte geras).

17 »Sin embargo, no podrán redimir a las primeras crías del ganado, de las ovejas o de las cabras. Estas están consagradas y han sido apartadas para el Señor<br />: rocía su sangre en el altar y quema su grasa como ofrenda especial de aroma agradable al Señor<br />.

18 La carne de estos animales será tuya, así como el pecho y el muslo derecho que se presentan al levantarlos como una ofrenda especial ante el altar.

19 Así es, te doy todas estas ofrendas sagradas que el pueblo de Israel lleva al Señor<br />. Son para ti y tus hijos e hijas, para que las coman como su porción perpetua. Este es un pacto eterno e inquebrantable<br /> entre tú y el Señor<br /> y también se aplica a tus descendientes».

20 El Señor<br /> le dijo a Aarón: «Ustedes, los sacerdotes, no recibirán ninguna asignación de tierra ni porción de terreno entre el pueblo de Israel. Yo soy tu porción y tu asignación.

21 En cuanto a la tribu de Leví, tus parientes, los recompensaré por su servicio en el tabernáculo. En lugar de una asignación de tierra, les daré los diezmos de toda la tierra de Israel.

22 »De ahora en adelante, ningún israelita, con excepción de los sacerdotes o los levitas, podrá acercarse al tabernáculo. Si alguien se acerca, será declarado culpable y morirá.

23 Únicamente los levitas podrán servir en el tabernáculo y serán los responsables de toda ofensa cometida contra el tabernáculo. Esta es una ley perpetua para ustedes, y tendrá que cumplirse de generación en generación. Los levitas no recibirán ninguna asignación de tierra entre los israelitas,

24 porque yo les he dado los diezmos del pueblo de Israel, que han sido entregados como ofrendas sagradas al Señor<br />. Esta será la porción de los levitas. Por eso les he dicho que no recibirán ninguna asignación de tierra entre los israelitas».

25 El Señor<br /> también le dijo a Moisés:

26 «Da las siguientes instrucciones a los levitas: cuando reciban de los israelitas los diezmos que les he asignado como su porción, entreguen una décima parte de ellos —un diezmo de los diezmos— al Señor<br /> como ofrenda sagrada.

27 El Señor<br /> contará esta ofrenda de ustedes como una ofrenda de cosecha, como si fuera el primer grano de su propio campo de trillar o el vino de su propio lagar.

28 La décima parte de los diezmos que reciben de los israelitas, tendrán que presentarla como ofrenda sagrada para el Señor<br />. Esta es la porción sagrada del Señor<br /> y tienen que presentarla al sacerdote Aarón.

29 De todas las ofrendas recibidas, asegúrense de dar lo mejor al Señor<br />.

30 »Da también las siguientes instrucciones a los levitas: cuando presenten la mejor parte como su ofrenda, esta será considerada como si viniera de su propio campo de trillar o de su lagar.

31 Levitas, ustedes y sus familias podrán comer este alimento donde quieran, porque constituye su recompensa por servir en el tabernáculo.

32 No serán considerados culpables por aceptar los diezmos ofrecidos al Señor<br />, si dan la mejor porción a los sacerdotes. Sin embargo, tengan cuidado de no considerar las ofrendas sagradas del pueblo de Israel como si fueran algo ordinario. Si lo hacen, morirán».

1 The LORD said to Aaron, “You, your sons and your family are to bear the responsibility for offenses connected with the sanctuary, and you and your sons alone are to bear the responsibility for offenses connected with the priesthood.

2 Bring your fellow Levites from your ancestral tribe to join you and assist you when you and your sons minister before the tent of the covenant law.

3 They are to be responsible to you and are to perform all the duties of the tent, but they must not go near the furnishings of the sanctuary or the altar. Otherwise both they and you will die.

4 They are to join you and be responsible for the care of the tent of meeting—all the work at the tent—and no one else may come near where you are.

5 “You are to be responsible for the care of the sanctuary and the altar, so that my wrath will not fall on the Israelites again.

6 I myself have selected your fellow Levites from among the Israelites as a gift to you, dedicated to the LORD to do the work at the tent of meeting.

7 But only you and your sons may serve as priests in connection with everything at the altar and inside the curtain. I am giving you the service of the priesthood as a gift. Anyone else who comes near the sanctuary is to be put to death.”

8 Then the LORD said to Aaron, “I myself have put you in charge of the offerings presented to me; all the holy offerings the Israelites give me I give to you and your sons as your portion, your perpetual share.

9 You are to have the part of the most holy offerings that is kept from the fire. From all the gifts they bring me as most holy offerings, whether grain or sin or guilt offerings, that part belongs to you and your sons.

10 Eat it as something most holy; every male shall eat it. You must regard it as holy.

11 “This also is yours: whatever is set aside from the gifts of all the wave offerings of the Israelites. I give this to you and your sons and daughters as your perpetual share. Everyone in your household who is ceremonially clean may eat it.

12 “I give you all the finest olive oil and all the finest new wine and grain they give the LORD as the firstfruits of their harvest.

13 All the land’s firstfruits that they bring to the LORD will be yours. Everyone in your household who is ceremonially clean may eat it.

14 “Everything in Israel that is devoted to the LORD is yours.

15 The first offspring of every womb, both human and animal, that is offered to the LORD is yours. But you must redeem every firstborn son and every firstborn male of unclean animals.

16 When they are a month old, you must redeem them at the redemption price set at five shekels of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs.

17 “But you must not redeem the firstborn of a cow, a sheep or a goat; they are holy. Splash their blood against the altar and burn their fat as a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the LORD.

18 Their meat is to be yours, just as the breast of the wave offering and the right thigh are yours.

19 Whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and your sons and daughters as your perpetual share. It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the LORD for both you and your offspring.”

20 The LORD said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any share among them; I am your share and your inheritance among the Israelites.

21 “I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the tent of meeting.

22 From now on the Israelites must not go near the tent of meeting, or they will bear the consequences of their sin and will die.

23 It is the Levites who are to do the work at the tent of meeting and bear the responsibility for any offenses they commit against it. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. They will receive no inheritance among the Israelites.

24 Instead, I give to the Levites as their inheritance the tithes that the Israelites present as an offering to the LORD. That is why I said concerning them: ‘They will have no inheritance among the Israelites.’ ”

25 The LORD said to Moses,

26 “Speak to the Levites and say to them: ‘When you receive from the Israelites the tithe I give you as your inheritance, you must present a tenth of that tithe as the LORD’s offering.

27 Your offering will be reckoned to you as grain from the threshing floor or juice from the winepress.

28 In this way you also will present an offering to the LORD from all the tithes you receive from the Israelites. From these tithes you must give the LORD’s portion to Aaron the priest.

29 You must present as the LORD’s portion the best and holiest part of everything given to you.’

30 “Say to the Levites: ‘When you present the best part, it will be reckoned to you as the product of the threshing floor or the winepress.

31 You and your households may eat the rest of it anywhere, for it is your wages for your work at the tent of meeting.

32 By presenting the best part of it you will not be guilty in this matter; then you will not defile the holy offerings of the Israelites, and you will not die.’ ”
