Philippians 1

HNV 1 Sha'ul and Timothy, servants of Yeshua the Messiah; To all the holy ones in Messiah Yeshua who are at Philippi, with the overseers and shammashim: NIV 1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: HNV 2 Grace to you, and shalom from God, our Father, and the Lord, Yeshua the Messiah. NIV 2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. HNV 3 I thank my God whenever I remember you, NIV 3 I thank my God every time I remember you. HNV 4 always in every request of mine on behalf of you all making my requests with joy, NIV 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy HNV 5 for your fellowship in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now; NIV 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, HNV 6 being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Yeshua the Messiah. NIV 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. HNV 7 It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace. NIV 7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. HNV 8 For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Messiah Yeshua. NIV 8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. HNV 9 This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment; NIV 9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, HNV 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Messiah; NIV 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, HNV 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Yeshua the Messiah, to the glory and praise of God. NIV 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God. HNV 12 Now I desire to have you know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News; NIV 12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. HNV 13 so that my bonds became revealed in Messiah throughout the whole praetorian guard, and to all the rest; NIV 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. HNV 14 and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear. NIV 14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly. HNV 15 Some indeed preach Messiah even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will. NIV 15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. HNV 16 The former preach Messiah from selfish ambition, not sincerely, thinking that they add affliction to my chains; NIV 16 The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. HNV 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News. NIV 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. HNV 18 What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Messiah is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice. NIV 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, HNV 19 For I know that this will turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Yeshua the Messiah, NIV 19 for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. HNV 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be put to shame, but with all boldness, as always, now also Messiah will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death. NIV 20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. HNV 21 For to me to live is Messiah, and to die is gain. NIV 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. HNV 22 But if to live in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; then I don't make known what I will choose. NIV 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! HNV 23 But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Messiah, which is far better. NIV 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; HNV 24 Yet, to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake. NIV 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. HNV 25 Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, NIV 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, HNV 26 that your rejoicing may abound in Messiah Yeshua in me through my presence with you again. NIV 26 so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me. HNV 27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the Good News of Messiah, that, whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News; NIV 27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel HNV 28 and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God. NIV 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved--and that by God. HNV 29 Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Messiah, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf, NIV 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him, HNV 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear is in me. NIV 30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.
