Philippians 2

WEB 1 If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion, NIV 1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, WEB 2 make my joy full, that you be of the same mind, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind; NIV 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. WEB 3 doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; NIV 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. WEB 4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. NIV 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. WEB 5 Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, NIV 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: WEB 6 who, existing in the form of God, didn't consider it robbery to be equal with God, NIV 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, WEB 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. NIV 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. WEB 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. NIV 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! WEB 9 Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; NIV 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, WEB 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee would bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, NIV 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, WEB 11 and that every tongue would confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God, the Father. NIV 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. WEB 12 So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. NIV 12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, WEB 13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. NIV 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. WEB 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputes, NIV 14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, WEB 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world, NIV 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe WEB 16 holding up the word of life; that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ, that I didn't run in vain nor labor in vain. NIV 16 as you hold out the word of life--in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. WEB 17 Yes, and if I am poured out on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice, and rejoice with you all. NIV 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. WEB 18 In the same way, you also rejoice, and rejoice with me. NIV 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me. WEB 19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered up when I know how you are doing. NIV 19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. WEB 20 For I have no one else like-minded, who will truly care about you. NIV 20 I have no one else like him, who takes a genuine interest in your welfare. WEB 21 For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ. NIV 21 For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. WEB 22 But you know the proof of him, that, as a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the gospel. NIV 22 But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel. WEB 23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it will go with me. NIV 23 I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me. WEB 24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself also will come shortly. NIV 24 And I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon. WEB 25 But I counted it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need; NIV 25 But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs. WEB 26 since he longed for you all, and was very troubled, because you had heard that he was sick. NIV 26 For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. WEB 27 For indeed he was sick, nearly to death, but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow. NIV 27 Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow. WEB 28 I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that, when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. NIV 28 Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety. WEB 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such in honor, NIV 29 Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him, WEB 30 because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me. NIV 30 because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me.
