NRS 1 Finally, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is not troublesome to me, and for you it is a safeguard. NIV 1 Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. NRS 2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh! NIV 2 Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh. NRS 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and boast in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh— NIV 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh-- NRS 4 even though I, too, have reason for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else has reason to be confident in the flesh, I have more: NIV 4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: NRS 5 circumcised on the eighth day, a member of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; NIV 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; NRS 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. NIV 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless. NRS 7 Yet whatever gains I had, these I have come to regard as loss because of Christ. NIV 7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. NRS 8 More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I regard them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ NIV 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ NRS 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith. NIV 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. NRS 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, NIV 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, NRS 11 if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead. NIV 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. NRS 12 Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. NIV 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. NRS 13 Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, NIV 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, NRS 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. NIV 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. NRS 15 Let those of us then who are mature be of the same mind; and if you think differently about anything, this too God will reveal to you. NIV 15 All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. NRS 16 Only let us hold fast to what we have attained. NIV 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
