Proverbs 14

NKJV 1 The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands. NIV 1 The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. NKJV 2 He who walks in his uprightness fears the Lord, But he who is perverse in his ways despises Him. NIV 2 He whose walk is upright fears the LORD, but he whose ways are devious despises him. NKJV 3 In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride, But the lips of the wise will preserve them. NIV 3 A fool's talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them. NKJV 4 Where no oxen are, the trough is clean; But much increase comes by the strength of an ox. NIV 16 A wise man fears the LORD and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless. NKJV 17 A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, And a man of wicked intentions is hated. NIV 17 A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated. NKJV 18 The simple inherit folly, But the prudent are crowned with knowledge. NIV 29 A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. NKJV 30 A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones. NIV 30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones. NKJV 31 He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy. NIV 31 He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God. NKJV 32 The wicked is banished in his wickedness, But the righteous has a refuge in his death. NIV 32 When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge. NKJV 33 Wisdom rests in the heart of him who has understanding, But what is in the heart of fools is made known. NIV 33 Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known. NKJV 34 Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people. NIV 34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. NKJV 35 The king's favor is toward a wise servant, But his wrath is against him who causes shame. NIV 35 A king delights in a wise servant, but a shameful servant incurs his wrath.
