Proverbs 1:20-33

NRS 20 Wisdom cries out in the street; in the squares she raises her voice. NIV 20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares; NRS 21 At the busiest corner she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: NIV 21 at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech: NRS 22 "How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? NIV 22 "How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? NRS 23 Give heed to my reproof; I will pour out my thoughts to you; I will make my words known to you. NIV 23 If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you. NRS 24 Because I have called and you refused, have stretched out my hand and no one heeded, NIV 24 But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand, NRS 25 and because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, NIV 25 since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke, NRS 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when panic strikes you, NIV 26 I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you-- NRS 27 when panic strikes you like a storm, and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. NIV 27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. NRS 28 Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently, but will not find me. NIV 28 "Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me. NRS 29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord, NIV 29 Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD, NRS 30 would have none of my counsel, and despised all my reproof, NIV 30 since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, NRS 31 therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way and be sated with their own devices. NIV 31 they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. NRS 32 For waywardness kills the simple, and the complacency of fools destroys them; NIV 32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; NRS 33 but those who listen to me will be secure and will live at ease, without dread of disaster." NIV 33 but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm."
