Proverbs 3

HNV 1 My son, don't forget my teaching; But let your heart keep my mitzvot: NIV 1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, HNV 2 For length of days, and years of life, And shalom, will they add to you. NIV 2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. HNV 3 Don't let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. NIV 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. HNV 4 So you will find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man. NIV 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. HNV 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And don't lean on your own understanding. NIV 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; HNV 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, And he will direct your paths. NIV 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. HNV 7 Don't be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and depart from evil. NIV 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. HNV 8 It will be health to your body, And nourishment to your bones. NIV 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. HNV 9 Honor the LORD with your substance, With the first fruits of all your increase: NIV 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; HNV 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. NIV 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. HNV 11 My son, don't despise the LORD's discipline, Neither be weary of his reproof: NIV 11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, HNV 12 For whom the LORD loves, he reproves; Even as a father the son in whom he delights. NIV 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. HNV 13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, The man who gets understanding. NIV 13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, HNV 14 For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, The profit of it better than fine gold. NIV 14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. HNV 15 She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her. NIV 15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. HNV 16 Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor. NIV 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. HNV 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are shalom. NIV 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. HNV 18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy is everyone who retains her. NIV 18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed. HNV 19 By wisdom the LORD founded the eretz. By understanding, he established the heavens. NIV 19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; HNV 20 By his knowledge, the depths were broken up, And the skies drop down the dew. NIV 20 by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew. HNV 21 My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion: NIV 21 My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; HNV 22 So they will be life to your soul, And grace for your neck. NIV 22 they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. HNV 23 Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won't stumble. NIV 23 Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; HNV 24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet. NIV 24 when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. HNV 25 Don't be afraid of sudden fear, Neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes: NIV 25 Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, HNV 26 For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being taken. NIV 26 for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared. HNV 27 Don't withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do it. NIV 27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. HNV 28 Don't say to your neighbor, "Go, and come again, Tomorrow I will give," When you have it by you. NIV 28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow"-- when you now have it with you. HNV 29 Don't devise evil against your neighbor, Seeing he dwells securely by you. NIV 29 Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you. HNV 30 Don't strive with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm. NIV 30 Do not accuse a man for no reason-- when he has done you no harm. HNV 31 Don't envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways. NIV 31 Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, HNV 32 For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD, But his friendship is with the upright. NIV 32 for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence. HNV 33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked, But he blesses the habitation of the righteous. NIV 33 The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. HNV 34 Surely he mocks the mockers, But he gives grace to the humble. NIV 34 He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble. HNV 35 The wise will inherit glory, But shame will be the promotion of fools. NIV 35 The wise inherit honor, but fools he holds up to shame.
