Proverbs 8

NRS 1 Does not wisdom call, and does not understanding raise her voice? NIV 1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? NRS 2 On the heights, beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand; NIV 2 On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; NRS 3 beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries out: NIV 3 beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud: NRS 4 "To you, O people, I call, and my cry is to all that live. NIV 4 "To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. NRS 5 O simple ones, learn prudence; acquire intelligence, you who lack it. NIV 5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding. NRS 6 Hear, for I will speak noble things, and from my lips will come what is right; NIV 6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. NRS 7 for my mouth will utter truth; wickedness is an abomination to my lips. NIV 7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness. NRS 8 All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in them. NIV 8 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. NRS 9 They are all straight to one who understands and right to those who find knowledge. NIV 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge. NRS 10 Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold; NIV 10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, NRS 11 for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her. NIV 11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. NRS 12 I, wisdom, live with prudence, and I attain knowledge and discretion. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. NIV 13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. NRS 14 I have good advice and sound wisdom; I have insight, I have strength. NIV 14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power. NRS 15 By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just; NIV 15 By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just; NRS 16 by me rulers rule, and nobles, all who govern rightly. NIV 16 by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth. NRS 17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me. NIV 17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. NRS 18 Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and prosperity. NIV 18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. NRS 19 My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver. NRS 35 For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord; NIV 35 For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD. NRS 36 but those who miss me injure themselves; all who hate me love death." NIV 36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death."
