Psalm 104

CJB 1 Bless ADONAI, my soul! ADONAI, my God, you are very great; you are clothed with glory and majesty, NIV 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. CJB 2 wrapped in light as with a robe. You spread out the heavens like a curtain, NIV 2 He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent CJB 3 you laid the beams of your palace on the water. You make the clouds your chariot, you ride on the wings of the wind. NIV 3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. CJB 4 You make winds your messengers, fiery flames your servants. NIV 4 He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. CJB 5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, never to be moved. NIV 5 He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. CJB 6 You covered it with the deep like a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. NIV 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. CJB 7 At your rebuke they fled; at the sound of your thunder they rushed away, NIV 7 But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight; CJB 8 flowing over hills, pouring into valleys, down to the place you had fixed for them. NIV 8 they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them. CJB 9 You determined a boundary they could not cross; they were never to cover the earth again. NIV 9 You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth. CJB 10 You make springs gush forth in the vadis; they flow between the hills, NIV 10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains. CJB 11 supplying water to all the wild animals; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. NIV 11 They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. CJB 12 On their banks the birds of the air build their nests; among the branches they sing. NIV 12 The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. CJB 13 You water the mountains from your palace; the earth is satisfied with how you provide NIV 13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. CJB 14 You grow grass for the cattle; and for people you grow the plants they need to bring forth bread from the earth, NIV 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate-- bringing forth food from the earth: CJB 15 wine that gladdens the human heart, oil to make faces glow, and food to sustain their strength. NIV 15 wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart. CJB 16 ADONAI's trees are satisfied -the cedars of the L'vanon, which he has planted. NIV 16 The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. CJB 17 In them sparrows build their nests, while storks live in the fir trees. NIV 17 There the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the pine trees. CJB 18 For the wild goats there are the high mountains, while the coneys find refuge in the rocks. NIV 18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats; the crags are a refuge for the coneys. CJB 19 You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. NIV 19 The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down. CJB 20 You bring darkness, and it is night, the time when all forest animals prowl. NIV 20 You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl. CJB 21 The young lions roar after their prey and seek their food from God. NIV 21 The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God. CJB 22 The sun rises, they slink away and lie down to rest in their dens; NIV 22 The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens. CJB 23 while people go out to their work, laboring on till evening. NIV 23 Then man goes out to his work, to his labor until evening. CJB 24 What variety there is in your works, ADONAI! How many [of them there are]! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creations. NIV 24 How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. CJB 25 Look at the sea, so great, so wide! It teems with countless creatures, living beings, both large and small. NIV 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number-- living things both large and small. CJB 26 The ships are there, sailing to and fro; Livyatan, which you formed to play there. NIV 26 There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there. CJB 27 All of them look to you to give them their food when they need it. NIV 27 These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time. CJB 28 When you give it to them, they gather it; when you open your hand, they are well satisfied. NIV 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. CJB 29 If you hide your face, they vanish; if you hold back their breath, they perish and return to their dust. NIV 29 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. CJB 30 If you send out your breath, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. NIV 30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. CJB 31 May the glory of ADONAI last forever! May ADONAI rejoice in his works! NIV 31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works-- CJB 32 When he looks at the earth, it trembles; when he touches the mountains, they pour out smoke. NIV 32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles, who touches the mountains, and they smoke. CJB 33 I will sing to ADONAI as long as I live, sing praise to my God all my life. NIV 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. CJB 34 May my musings be pleasing to him; I will rejoice in ADONAI. NIV 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD. CJB 35 May sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more! Bless ADONAI, my soul! Halleluyah! NIV 35 But may sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Praise the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD.
