Psalm 105

ASV 1 Oh give thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name; Make known among the peoples his doings. NIV 1 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. ASV 2 Sing unto him, sing praises unto him; Talk ye of all his marvelous works. NIV 2 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. ASV 3 Glory ye in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek Jehovah. NIV 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. ASV 4 Seek ye Jehovah and his strength; Seek his face evermore. NIV 4 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. ASV 5 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of his mouth, NIV 5 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, ASV 6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant, Ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones. NIV 6 O descendants of Abraham his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones. ASV 7 He is Jehovah our God: His judgments are in all the earth. NIV 7 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. ASV 8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations, NIV 8 He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations, ASV 9 [The covenant] which he made with Abraham, And his oath unto Isaac, NIV 9 the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac. ASV 10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a statute, To Israel for an everlasting covenant, NIV 10 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: ASV 11 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance; NIV 11 "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit." ASV 12 When they were but a few men in number, Yea, very few, and sojourners in it. NIV 12 When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it, ASV 13 And they went about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people. NIV 13 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. ASV 14 He suffered no man to do them wrong; Yea, he reproved kings for their sakes, NIV 14 He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings: ASV 15 [Saying], Touch not mine anointed ones, And do my prophets no harm. NIV 15 "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm." ASV 16 And he called for a famine upon the land; He brake the whole staff of bread. NIV 16 He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; ASV 17 He sent a man before them; Joseph was sold for a servant: NIV 17 and he sent a man before them-- Joseph, sold as a slave. ASV 18 His feet they hurt with fetters: He was laid in [chains of] iron, NIV 18 They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, ASV 19 Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of Jehovah tried him. NIV 19 till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true. ASV 20 The king sent and loosed him; Even the ruler of peoples, and let him go free. NIV 20 The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free. ASV 21 He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his substance; NIV 21 He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed, ASV 22 To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom. NIV 22 to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom. ASV 23 Israel also came into Egypt; And Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. NIV 23 Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham. ASV 24 And he increased his people greatly, And made them stronger than their adversaries. NIV 24 The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes, ASV 25 He turned their heart to hate his people, To deal subtly with his servants. NIV 25 whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants. ASV 26 He sent Moses his servant, [And] Aaron whom he had chosen. NIV 30 Their land teemed with frogs, which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers. ASV 31 He spake, and there came swarms of flies, And lice in all their borders. NIV 31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country. ASV 32 He gave them hail for rain, [And] flaming fire in their land. NIV 32 He turned their rain into hail, with lightning throughout their land; ASV 33 He smote their vines also and their fig-trees, And brake the trees of their borders. NIV 33 he struck down their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their country. ASV 34 He spake, and the locust came, And the grasshopper, and that without number, NIV 34 He spoke, and the locusts came, grasshoppers without number; ASV 35 And did eat up every herb in their land, And did eat up the fruit of their ground. NIV 35 they ate up every green thing in their land, ate up the produce of their soil. ASV 36 He smote also all the first-born in their land, The chief of all their strength. NIV 36 Then he struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their manhood. ASV 37 And he brought them forth with silver and gold; And there was not one feeble person among his tribes. NIV 37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered. ASV 38 Egypt was glad when they departed; For the fear of them had fallen upon them. NIV 38 Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen on them. ASV 39 He spread a cloud for a covering, And fire to give light in the night. NIV 39 He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. ASV 40 They asked, and he brought quails, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven. NIV 40 They asked, and he brought them quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. ASV 41 He opened the rock, and waters gushed out; They ran in the dry places [like] a river. NIV 41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert. ASV 42 For he remembered his holy word, [And] Abraham his servant. NIV 42 For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. ASV 43 And he brought forth his people with joy, [And] his chosen with singing. NIV 43 He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; ASV 44 And he gave them the lands of the nations; And they took the labor of the peoples in possession: NIV 44 he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for-- ASV 45 That they might keep his statutes, And observe his laws. Praise ye Jehovah. NIV 45 that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.
