Psalm 105

BBE 1 O give praise to the Lord; give honour to his name, talking of his doings among the peoples. NIV 1 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. BBE 2 Let your voice be sounding in songs and melody; let all your thoughts be of the wonder of his works. NIV 2 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. BBE 3 Have glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who are searching after the Lord be glad. NIV 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. BBE 4 Let your search be for the Lord and for his strength; let your hearts ever be turned to him. NIV 4 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. BBE 5 Keep in mind the great works which he has done; his wonders, and the decisions of his mouth; NIV 5 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, BBE 6 O you seed of Abraham, his servant, you children of Jacob, his loved ones. NIV 6 O descendants of Abraham his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones. BBE 7 He is the Lord our God: he is judge of all the earth. NIV 7 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. BBE 8 He has kept his agreement in mind for ever, the word which he gave for a thousand generations; NIV 8 He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations, BBE 9 The agreement which he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac; NIV 9 the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac. BBE 10 And he gave it to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an eternal agreement; NIV 10 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: BBE 11 Saying, To you will I give the land of Canaan, the measured line of your heritage: NIV 11 "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit." BBE 12 When they were still small in number, and strange in the land; NIV 12 When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it, BBE 13 When they went about from one nation to another, and from one kingdom to another people. NIV 13 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. BBE 14 He would not let anyone do them wrong; he even kept back kings because of them, NIV 14 He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings: BBE 15 Saying, Put not your hand on those who have been marked with my holy oil, and do my prophets no wrong. NIV 15 "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm." BBE 16 And he took away all food from the land, so that the people were without bread. NIV 16 He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; BBE 17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was given as a servant for a price: NIV 17 and he sent a man before them-- Joseph, sold as a slave. BBE 18 His feet were fixed in chains; his neck was put in iron bands; NIV 18 They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, BBE 19 Till the time when his word came true; he was tested by the word of the Lord. NIV 19 till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true. BBE 20 The king sent men to take off his chains; even the ruler of the people, who let him go free. NIV 20 The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free. BBE 21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler over everything he had; NIV 21 He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed, BBE 22 To give his chiefs teaching at his pleasure, and so that his law-givers might get wisdom from him. NIV 22 to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom. BBE 23 Then Israel came into Egypt, and Jacob was living in the land of Ham. NIV 23 Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham. BBE 24 And his people were greatly increased, and became stronger than those who were against them. NIV 24 The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes, BBE 25 Their hearts were turned to hate against his people, so that they made secret designs against them. NIV 25 whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants. BBE 26 He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, the man of his selection. NIV 26 He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. BBE 27 He let his signs be seen among the people, and his wonders in the land of Ham. NIV 27 They performed his miraculous signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham. BBE 28 He sent black night and made it dark; and they did not go against his word. NIV 28 He sent darkness and made the land dark-- for had they not rebelled against his words? BBE 29 At his word their waters were turned to blood, and he sent death on all their fish. NIV 29 He turned their waters into blood, causing their fish to die. BBE 30 Their land was full of frogs, even in the rooms of the king. NIV 30 Their land teemed with frogs, which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers. BBE 31 He gave the word, and there came the dog-fly, and insects over all the land. NIV 31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country. BBE 32 He gave them ice for rain, and flaming fire in their land. NIV 32 He turned their rain into hail, with lightning throughout their land; BBE 33 He gave their vines and their fig-trees to destruction, and the trees of their land were broken down. NIV 33 he struck down their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their country. BBE 34 At his word the locusts came, and young locusts more than might be numbered, NIV 34 He spoke, and the locusts came, grasshoppers without number; BBE 35 And put an end to all the plants of their land, taking all the fruit of the earth for food. NIV 35 they ate up every green thing in their land, ate up the produce of their soil. BBE 36 He put to death the first child of every family in the land, the first-fruits of their strength. NIV 36 Then he struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their manhood. BBE 37 He took his people out with silver and gold: there was not one feeble person among them. NIV 37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered. BBE 38 Egypt was glad when they went; for the fear of them had come down on them. NIV 38 Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen on them. BBE 39 A cloud was stretched over them for a cover; and he sent fire to give light in the night. NIV 39 He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. BBE 40 At the people's request he sent birds, and gave them the bread of heaven for food. NIV 40 They asked, and he brought them quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. BBE 41 His hand made the rock open, and the waters came streaming out; they went down through the dry places like a river. NIV 41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert. BBE 42 For he kept in mind his holy word, and Abraham, his servant. NIV 42 For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. BBE 43 And he took his people out with joy, the men of his selection with glad cries: NIV 43 He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; BBE 44 And gave them the lands of the nations; and they took the work of the peoples for a heritage; NIV 44 he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for-- BBE 45 So that they might keep his orders, and be true to his laws. Give praise to the Lord. NIV 45 that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.
