NIV 15 "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm." NCV 16 God ordered a time of hunger in the land, and he destroyed all the food. NIV 16 He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; NCV 17 Then he sent a man ahead of them -- Joseph, who was sold as a slave. NIV 17 and he sent a man before them-- Joseph, sold as a slave. NCV 18 They put chains around his feet and an iron ring around his neck. NIV 18 They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, NCV 19 Then the time he had spoken of came, and the Lord's words proved that Joseph was right. NIV 19 till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true. NCV 20 The king of Egypt sent for Joseph and freed him; the ruler of the people set him free. NIV 22 to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom. NCV 23 Then his father Israel came to Egypt; Jacobn lived in Egypt. NIV 23 Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham. NCV 24 The Lord made his people grow in number, and he made them stronger than their enemies. Not one of his people stumbled. NIV 37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered. NCV 38 The Egyptians were glad when they left, because the Egyptians were afraid of them. NIV 38 Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen on them. NCV 39 The Lord covered them with a cloud and lit up the night with fire. NIV 39 He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. NCV 40 When they asked, he brought them quail and filled them with bread from heaven. NIV 40 They asked, and he brought them quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. NCV 41 God split the rock, and water flowed out; it ran like a river through the desert. NIV 41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert. NCV 42 He remembered his holy promise to his servant Abraham. NIV 42 For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham.
