Psalm 106

YLT 1 Praise ye Jah, give thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age, [is] His kindness. NIV 1 Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. YLT 2 Who doth utter the mighty acts of Jehovah? Soundeth all His praise? NIV 2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise? YLT 3 O the happiness of those keeping judgment, Doing righteousness at all times. NIV 3 Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right. YLT 4 Remember me, O Jehovah, With the favour of Thy people, Look after me in Thy salvation. NIV 4 Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them, YLT 5 To look on the good of Thy chosen ones, To rejoice in the joy of Thy nation, To boast myself with Thine inheritance. NIV 5 that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise. YLT 6 We have sinned with our fathers, We have done perversely, we have done wickedly. NIV 6 We have sinned, even as our fathers did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly. YLT 7 Our fathers in Egypt, Have not considered wisely Thy wonders, They have not remembered The abundance of Thy kind acts, And provoke by the sea, at the sea of Suph. NIV 7 When our fathers were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea. YLT 8 And He saveth them for His name's sake, To make known His might, NIV 8 Yet he saved them for his name's sake, to make his mighty power known. YLT 9 And rebuketh the sea of Suph, and it is dried up, And causeth them to go Through depths as a wilderness. NIV 9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led them through the depths as through a desert. YLT 10 And He saveth them from the hand Of him who is hating, And redeemeth them from the hand of the enemy. NIV 10 He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them. YLT 11 And waters cover their adversaries, One of them hath not been left. NIV 11 The waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived. YLT 12 And they believe in His words, they sing His praise, NIV 12 Then they believed his promises and sang his praise. YLT 13 They have hasted -- forgotten His works, They have not waited for His counsel. NIV 13 But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his counsel. YLT 14 And they lust greatly in a wilderness, And try God in a desert. NIV 14 In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wasteland they put God to the test. YLT 15 And He giveth to them their request, And sendeth leanness into their soul. NIV 15 So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease upon them. YLT 16 And they are envious of Moses in the camp, Of Aaron, Jehovah's holy one. NIV 16 In the camp they grew envious of Moses and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the LORD. YLT 17 Earth openeth, and swalloweth up Dathan, And covereth over the company of Abiram. NIV 17 The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it buried the company of Abiram. YLT 18 And fire burneth among their company, A flame setteth on fire the wicked. NIV 18 Fire blazed among their followers; a flame consumed the wicked. YLT 19 They make a calf in Horeb, And bow themselves to a molten image, NIV 19 At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped an idol cast from metal. YLT 20 And change their Honour Into the form of an ox eating herbs. NIV 20 They exchanged their Glory for an image of a bull, which eats grass. YLT 21 They have forgotten God their saviour, The doer of great things in Egypt, NIV 21 They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt, YLT 22 Of wonderful things in the land of Ham, Of fearful things by the sea of Suph. NIV 22 miracles in the land of Ham and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. YLT 23 And He saith to destroy them, Unless Moses, His chosen one, Had stood in the breach before Him, To turn back His wrath from destroying. NIV 23 So he said he would destroy them-- had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them. YLT 24 And they kick against the desirable land, They have not given credence to His word. NIV 24 Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise. YLT 25 And they murmur in their tents, They have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah. NIV 25 They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD. YLT 26 And He lifteth up His hand to them, To cause them to fall in a wilderness, NIV 26 So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the desert, YLT 27 And to cause their seed to fall among nations, And to scatter them through lands. NIV 27 make their descendants fall among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands. YLT 28 And they are coupled to Baal-Peor, And eat the sacrifices of the dead, NIV 28 They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods; YLT 29 And they provoke to anger by their actions, And a plague breaketh forth upon them, NIV 29 they provoked the LORD to anger by their wicked deeds, and a plague broke out among them. YLT 30 And Phinehas standeth, and executeth judgment, And the plague is restrained, NIV 30 But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked. YLT 31 And it is reckoned to him to righteousness, To all generations -- unto the age. NIV 31 This was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come. YLT 32 And they cause wrath by the waters of Meribah, And it is evil to Moses for their sakes, NIV 32 By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them; YLT 33 For they have provoked his spirit, And he speaketh wrongfully with his lips. NIV 33 for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses' lips. YLT 34 They have not destroyed the peoples, As Jehovah had said to them, NIV 34 They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them, YLT 35 And mix themselves among nations, and learn their works, NIV 35 but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. YLT 36 And serve their idols, And they are to them for a snare. NIV 36 They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. YLT 37 And they sacrifice their sons And their daughters to destroyers, NIV 37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. YLT 38 And they shed innocent blood -- Blood of their sons and of their daughters, Whom they have sacrificed to idols of Canaan, And the land is profaned with blood. NIV 38 They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood. YLT 39 And they are defiled with their works, And commit whoredom in their habitual doings. NIV 39 They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves. YLT 40 And the anger of Jehovah Is kindled against His people, And He doth abominate His inheritance. NIV 40 Therefore the LORD was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance. YLT 41 And giveth them into the hand of nations, And those hating them rule over them, NIV 41 He handed them over to the nations, and their foes ruled over them. YLT 42 And their enemies oppress them, And they are humbled under their hand. NIV 42 Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power. YLT 43 Many times He doth deliver them, And they rebel in their counsel, And they are brought low in their iniquity. NIV 43 Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. YLT 44 And He looketh on their distress When He heareth their cry, NIV 44 But he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; YLT 45 And remembereth for them His covenant, And is comforted, According to the abundance of His kindness. NIV 45 for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented. YLT 46 And He appointeth them for mercies Before all their captors. NIV 46 He caused them to be pitied by all who held them captive. YLT 47 Save us, O Jehovah our God, and gather us from the nations, To give thanks to Thy holy name, To glory in Thy praise. NIV 47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. YLT 48 Blessed [is] Jehovah, God of Israel, From the age even unto the age. And all the people said, `Amen, praise Jah!' NIV 48 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Praise the LORD.
