Psalm 123

NLT 1 A song for the ascent to Jerusalem. I lift my eyes to you, O God, enthroned in heaven. NIV 1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven. NLT 2 We look to the LORD our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal. NIV 2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he shows us his mercy. NLT 3 Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy, for we have had our fill of contempt. NIV 3 Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt. NLT 4 We have had our fill of the scoffing of the proud and the contempt of the arrogant. NIV 4 We have endured much ridicule from the proud, much contempt from the arrogant.
