Psalm 123

TMB 1 <<A song of degrees.>> Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes, O Thou that dwellest in the heavens. NIV 1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven. TMB 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress, so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God until He has mercy upon us. NIV 2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he shows us his mercy. TMB 3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. NIV 3 Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt. TMB 4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud. NIV 4 We have endured much ridicule from the proud, much contempt from the arrogant.
