Psalm 132

BBE 1 <A Song of the going up.> Lord, give thought to David, and to all his troubles; NIV 1 O LORD, remember David and all the hardships he endured. BBE 2 How he made an oath to the Lord, and gave his word to the great God of Jacob, saying, NIV 2 He swore an oath to the LORD and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob: BBE 3 Truly, I will not come into my house, or go to my bed, NIV 3 "I will not enter my house or go to my bed-- BBE 4 I will not give sleep to my eyes, or rest to my eyeballs, NIV 4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, BBE 5 Till I have got a place for the Lord, a resting-place for the great God of Jacob. NIV 5 till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob." BBE 6 We had news of it at Ephrathah: we came to it in the fields of the wood. NIV 6 We heard it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in the fields of Jaar: BBE 7 Let us go into his tent; let us give worship at his feet. NIV 7 "Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool-- BBE 8 Come back, O Lord, to your resting-place; you and the ark of your strength. NIV 8 arise, O LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. BBE 9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness; and let your saints give cries of joy. NIV 9 May your priests be clothed with righteousness; may your saints sing for joy." BBE 10 Because of your servant David, do not give up your king. NIV 10 For the sake of David your servant, do not reject your anointed one. BBE 11 The Lord gave a true oath to David, which he will not take back, saying, I will give your kingdom to the fruit of your body. NIV 11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he will not revoke: "One of your own descendants I will place on your throne-- BBE 12 If your children keep my word, and the teachings which I will give them, their children will be rulers of your kingdom for ever. NIV 12 if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever." BBE 13 For the Lord's heart is on Zion, desiring it for his resting-place. NIV 13 For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling: BBE 14 This is my rest for ever: here will I ever be; for this is my desire. NIV 14 "This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it-- BBE 15 My blessing will be on her food; and her poor will be full of bread. NIV 15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food. BBE 16 Her priests will be clothed with salvation; and her saints will give cries of joy. NIV 16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy. BBE 17 There I will make the horn of David fertile: I have made ready a light for my king. NIV 17 "Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one. BBE 18 His haters will be clothed with shame; but I will make his crown shining. NIV 18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown on his head will be resplendent."
