Psalm 135

GNT 1 Praise the Lord! Praise his name, you servants of the Lord, NIV 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD, GNT 2 who stand in the Lord's house, in the Temple of our God. NIV 2 you who minister in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God. GNT 3 Praise the Lord, because he is good; sing praises to his name, because he is kind. NIV 3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant. GNT 4 He chose Jacob for himself, the people of Israel for his own. NIV 4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession. GNT 5 I know that our Lord is great, greater than all the gods. NIV 5 I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods. GNT 6 He does whatever he wishes in heaven and on earth, in the seas and in the depths below. NIV 6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths. GNT 7 He brings storm clouds from the ends of the earth; he makes lightning for the storms, and he brings out the wind from his storeroom. NIV 7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses. GNT 8 In Egypt he killed all the first-born of people and animals alike. NIV 8 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of men and animals. GNT 9 There he performed miracles and wonders to punish the king and all his officials. NIV 9 He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants. GNT 10 He destroyed many nations and killed powerful kings: NIV 10 He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings-- GNT 11 Sihon, king of the Amorites, Og, king of Bashan, and all the kings in Canaan. NIV 11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan and all the kings of Canaan-- GNT 12 He gave their lands to his people; he gave them to Israel. NIV 12 and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel. GNT 13 Lord, you will always be proclaimed as God; all generations will remember you. NIV 13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations. GNT 14 The Lord will defend his people; he will take pity on his servants. NIV 14 For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants. GNT 15 The gods of the nations are made of silver and gold; they are formed by human hands. NIV 15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. GNT 16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, and eyes, but cannot see. NIV 16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; GNT 17 They have ears, but cannot hear; they are not even able to breathe. NIV 17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. GNT 18 May all who made them and who trust in them become like the idols they have made! NIV 18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them. GNT 19 Praise the Lord, people of Israel; praise him, you priests of God! NIV 19 O house of Israel, praise the LORD; O house of Aaron, praise the LORD; GNT 20 Praise the Lord, you Levites; praise him, all you that worship him! NIV 20 O house of Levi, praise the LORD; you who fear him, praise the LORD. GNT 21 Praise the Lord in Zion, in Jerusalem, his home. Praise the Lord! NIV 21 Praise be to the LORD from Zion, to him who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
