Psalm 14

ASV 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; There is none that doeth good. NIV 1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. ASV 2 Jehovah looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, That did seek after God. NIV 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. ASV 3 They are all gone aside; They are together become filthy; There is none that doeth good, no, not one. NIV 3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. ASV 4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people [as] they eat bread, And call not upon Jehovah? NIV 4 Will evildoers never learn-- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD? ASV 5 There were they in great fear; For God is in the generation of the righteous. NIV 5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. ASV 6 Ye put to shame the counsel of the poor, Because Jehovah is his refuge. NIV 6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge. ASV 7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When Jehovah bringeth back the captivity of his people, Then shall Jacob rejoice, [and] Israel shall be glad. NIV 7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
