Psalm 141

CSB 1 Lord, I call on You; hurry to [help] me. Listen to my voice when I call on You. NIV 1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. CSB 2 May my prayer be set before You as incense, the raising of my hands as the evening offering. NIV 2 May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. CSB 3 Lord, set up a guard for my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips. NIV 3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. CSB 4 Do not let my heart turn to any evil thing or wickedly perform reckless acts with men who commit sin. Do not let me feast on their delicacies. NIV 4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies. CSB 5 Let the righteous one strike me- it is [an act of] faithful love; let him rebuke me- it is oil for my head; let me not refuse it. Even now my prayer is against the evil acts of the wicked. NIV 5 Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers; CSB 6 When their rulers will be thrown off the sides of a cliff, the people will listen to my words, for they are pleasing. NIV 6 their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. CSB 7 As when one plows and breaks up the soil, [turning up rocks], so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol. NIV 7 [They will say,] "As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave. " CSB 8 But my eyes [look] to You, Lord God . I seek refuge in You; do not let me die. NIV 8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death. CSB 9 Protect me from the trap they have set for me, and from the snares of evildoers. NIV 9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers. CSB 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass [safely] by. NIV 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
