Psalm 141

TMB 1 <<A Psalm of David.>> LORD, I cry unto Thee! Make haste unto me! Give ear unto my voice when I cry unto Thee. NIV 1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. TMB 2 Let my prayer be set before Thee as incense, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. NIV 2 May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. TMB 3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. NIV 3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. TMB 4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity; and let me not eat of their dainties. NIV 4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies. TMB 5 Let the righteous smite me: it shall be a kindness. And let him reprove me: it shall be as an excellent oil, which shall not break my head; for yet my prayer shall be with them in their calamities. NIV 5 Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers; TMB 6 When their judges are overthrown onto stony places, they shall hear my words, for they are sweet. NIV 6 their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. TMB 7 Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth. NIV 7 [They will say,] "As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave. " TMB 8 But mine eyes are unto Thee, O GOD the Lord; in Thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute. NIV 8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death. TMB 9 Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the traps of the workers of iniquity. NIV 9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers. TMB 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst I thereupon escape. NIV 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
