KJV 1 Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: NIV 1 Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. KJV 2 My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer ; my shield, and he in whom I trust ; who subdueth my people under me. NIV 2 He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. KJV 3 LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him! NIV 3 O LORD, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him? KJV 4 Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away . NIV 4 Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow. KJV 5 Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down : touch the mountains, and they shall smoke . NIV 5 Part your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke. KJV 6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them. NIV 6 Send forth lightning and scatter [the enemies]; shoot your arrows and rout them. KJV 7 Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children; NIV 7 Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners KJV 8 Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood. NIV 8 whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful. KJV 9 I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee. NIV 9 I will sing a new song to you, O God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you, KJV 10 It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword. NIV 10 to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David from the deadly sword. KJV 11 Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood: NIV 11 Deliver me and rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful. KJV 12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace: NIV 12 Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace. KJV 13 That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store : that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: NIV 13 Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields; KJV 14 That our oxen may be strong to labour ; that there be no breaking in, nor going out ; that there be no complaining in our streets. NIV 14 our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets. KJV 15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD. NIV 15 Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
