Psalm 16

CJB 1 Mikhtam. By David: Protect me, God, for you are my refuge. NIV 1 Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge. CJB 2 I said to ADONAI, "You are my Lord; I have nothing good outside of you." NIV 2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing." CJB 3 The holy people in the land are the ones who are worthy of honor; all my pleasure is in them. NIV 3 As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight. CJB 4 Those who run after another god multiply their sorrows; To such gods I will not offer drink offerings of blood or take their names on my lips. NIV 4 The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips. CJB 5 ADONAI, my assigned portion, my cup: you safeguard my share. NIV 5 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. CJB 6 Pleasant places were measured out for me; I am content with my heritage. NIV 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. CJB 7 I bless ADONAI, my counselor; at night my inmost being instructs me. NIV 7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. CJB 8 I always set ADONAI before me; with him at my right hand, I can never be moved; NIV 8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. CJB 9 so my heart is glad, my glory rejoices, and my body too rests in safety; NIV 9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, CJB 10 for you will not abandon me to Sh'ol, you will not let your faithful one see the Abyss. NIV 10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. CJB 11 You make me know the path of life; in your presence is unbounded joy, in your right hand eternal delight. NIV 11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
