Psalm 18

CSB 1 I love You, Lord, my strength. NIV 1 I love you, O LORD, my strength. CSB 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my mountain where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. NIV 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. CSB 3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies. NIV 3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. CSB 4 The ropes of death were wrapped around me; the torrents of destruction terrified me. NIV 4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. CSB 15 The depths of the sea became visible, the foundations of the world were exposed, at Your rebuke, Lord, at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils. NIV 15 The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of breath from your nostrils. CSB 16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He pulled me out of deep waters. NIV 16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. CSB 22 Indeed, I have kept all His ordinances in mind and have not disregarded His statutes. NIV 22 All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees. CSB 23 I was blameless toward Him and kept myself from sinning. NIV 23 I have been blameless before him and have kept myself from sin. CSB 24 So the Lord repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight. CSB 25 With the faithful You prove Yourself faithful; with the blameless man You prove Yourself blameless; NIV 25 To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, CSB 26 with the pure You prove Yourself pure, but with the crooked You prove Yourself shrewd. NIV 26 to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd. CSB 27 For You rescue an afflicted people, but You humble those with haughty eyes. NIV 27 You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. CSB 28 Lord, You light my lamp; my God illuminates my darkness. NIV 28 You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. CSB 29 With You I can attack a barrier, and with my God I can leap over a wall. NIV 29 With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. CSB 30 God-His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. NIV 30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. CSB 31 For who is God besides the Lord? And who is a rock? Only our God. NIV 31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? CSB 32 God-He clothes me with strength and makes my way perfect. NIV 32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. CSB 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer and sets me securely on the heights. NIV 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. CSB 34 He trains my hands for war; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. NIV 34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. CSB 35 You have given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand upholds me, and Your humility exalts me. NIV 35 You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. CSB 36 You widen [a place] beneath me for my steps, and my ankles do not give way. NIV 36 You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn. CSB 37 I pursue my enemies and overtake them; I do not turn back until they are wiped out. NIV 37 I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed. CSB 38 I crush them, and they cannot get up; they fall beneath my feet. NIV 38 I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet. CSB 39 You have clothed me with strength for battle; You subdue my adversaries beneath me. NIV 39 You armed me with strength for battle; you made my adversaries bow at my feet. CSB 40 You have made my enemies retreat before me; I annihilate those who hate me. NIV 40 You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes. CSB 41 They cry for help, but there is no one to save [them]- [they cry]to the Lord, but He does not answer them. NIV 41 They cried for help, but there was no one to save them-- to the LORD, but he did not answer. CSB 42 I pulverize them like dust before the wind; I trample them like mud in the streets. NIV 42 I beat them as fine as dust borne on the wind; I poured them out like mud in the streets. CSB 43 You have freed me from the feuds among the people; You have appointed me the head of nations; a people I had not known serve me. NIV 43 You have delivered me from the attacks of the people; you have made me the head of nations; people I did not know are subject to me. CSB 44 Foreigners submit to me grudgingly; as soon as they hear, they obey me. NIV 44 As soon as they hear me, they obey me; foreigners cringe before me. CSB 45 Foreigners lose heart and come trembling from their fortifications. NIV 45 They all lose heart; they come trembling from their strongholds. CSB 46 The Lord lives-may my rock be praised! The God of my salvation is exalted. NIV 46 The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior! CSB 47 God-He gives me vengeance and subdues peoples under me. NIV 47 He is the God who avenges me, who subdues nations under me, CSB 48 He frees me from my enemies. You exalt me above my adversaries; You rescue me from violent men. NIV 48 who saves me from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes; from violent men you rescued me. CSB 49 Therefore I will praise You, Lord, among the nations; I will sing about Your name. NIV 49 Therefore I will praise you among the nations, O LORD; I will sing praises to your name. CSB 50 He gives great victories to His king; He shows loyalty to His anointed, to David and his descendants forever. NIV 50 He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever.
