Psalm 22

NRS 1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning? NIV 1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning? NRS 2 O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer; and by night, but find no rest. NIV 2 O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, and am not silent. NRS 3 Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. NIV 3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel. NRS 4 In you our ancestors trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them. NIV 4 In you our fathers put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. NRS 5 To you they cried, and were saved; in you they trusted, and were not put to shame. NIV 9 Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother's breast. NRS 10 On you I was cast from my birth, and since my mother bore me you have been my God. My hands and feet have shriveled; NIV 16 Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet. NRS 17 I can count all my bones. They stare and gloat over me; NIV 17 I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me. NRS 18 they divide my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots. NIV 18 They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. NRS 19 But you, O Lord, do not be far away! O my help, come quickly to my aid! NIV 19 But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me. NRS 20 Deliver my soul from the sword, my life from the power of the dog! NIV 20 Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs. NRS 21 Save me from the mouth of the lion! From the horns of the wild oxen you have rescued me. NIV 21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen. NRS 22 I will tell of your name to my brothers and sisters; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you: NIV 22 I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you. NRS 23 You who fear the Lord, praise him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him; stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel! NIV 23 You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! NRS 24 For he did not despise or abhor the affliction of the afflicted; he did not hide his face from me, but heard when I cried to him. NIV 24 For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. NRS 25 From you comes my praise in the great congregation; my vows I will pay before those who fear him. NIV 25 From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you will I fulfill my vows. NRS 26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek him shall praise the Lord. May your hearts live forever! NRS 27 All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord; and all the families of the nations shall worship before him. NRS 29 To him, indeed, shall all who sleep in the earth bow down; before him shall bow all who go down to the dust, and I shall live for him. NIV 29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him-- those who cannot keep themselves alive. NRS 30 Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord, NIV 30 Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord. NRS 31 and proclaim his deliverance to a people yet unborn, saying that he has done it. NIV 31 They will proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn-- for he has done it.
