Psalm 27

NLT 1 A psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation -- so why should I be afraid? The LORD protects me from danger -- so why should I tremble? NIV 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid? NLT 2 When evil people come to destroy me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. NIV 2 When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. NLT 3 Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will know no fear. Even if they attack me, I remain confident. NIV 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. NLT 4 The one thing I ask of the LORD -- the thing I seek most -- is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD's perfections and meditating in his Temple. NIV 4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. NLT 5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock. NIV 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. NLT 6 Then I will hold my head high, above my enemies who surround me. At his Tabernacle I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the LORD with music. NIV 6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. NLT 7 Listen to my pleading, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me! NIV 7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. NLT 8 My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "LORD, I am coming." NIV 8 My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek. NLT 9 Do not hide yourself from me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don't leave me now; don't abandon me, O God of my salvation! NIV 9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior. NLT 10 Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close. NIV 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. NLT 11 Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the path of honesty, for my enemies are waiting for me to fall. NIV 11 Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. NLT 12 Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I've never done and breathe out violence against me. NIV 12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence. NLT 13 Yet I am confident that I will see the LORD's goodness while I am here in the land of the living. NIV 13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. NLT 14 Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD. NIV 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
