Psalm 28

RHE 1 (27-1) <A psalm for David himself.> Unto thee will I cry, O Lord: O my God, be not thou silent to me: lest if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. NIV 1 To you I call, O LORD my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who have gone down to the pit. RHE 2 (27-2) Hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplication, when I pray to thee; when I lift up my hands to thy holy temple. NIV 2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. RHE 3 (27-3) Draw me not away together with the wicked; and with the workers of iniquity destroy me not: Who speak peace with their neighbour, but evils are in their hearts. NIV 3 Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts. RHE 4 (27-4) Give them according to their works, and according to the wickedness of their inventions. According to the works of their hands give thou to them: render to them their reward. NIV 4 Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done and bring back upon them what they deserve. RHE 5 (27-5) Because they have not understood the works of the Lord, and the operations of his hands: thou shalt destroy them, and shalt not build them up. NIV 5 Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD and what his hands have done, he will tear them down and never build them up again. RHE 6 (27-6) Blessed be the Lord, for he hath heard the voice of my supplication. NIV 6 Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. RHE 7 (27-7) The Lord is my helper and my protector: in him hath my heart confided, and I have been helped. And my flesh hath flourished again, and with my will I will give praise to him. NIV 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. RHE 8 (27-8) The Lord is the strength of his people, and the protector of the salvation of his anointed. NIV 8 The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. RHE 9 (27-9) Save, O Lord, thy people, and bless thy inheritance: and rule them and exalt them for ever. NIV 9 Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.
