Psalm 33

CSB 1 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous ones; praise from the upright is beautiful. NIV 1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. CSB 2 Praise the Lord with the lyre; make music to Him with a ten-stringed harp. NIV 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. CSB 3 Sing a new song to Him; play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout. NIV 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. CSB 4 For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is trustworthy. NIV 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. CSB 5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the Lord's unfailing love. NIV 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. CSB 6 The heavens were made by the word of the Lord, and all the stars, by the breath of His mouth. NIV 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. CSB 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap; He puts the depths into storehouses. NIV 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. CSB 8 Let the whole earth tremble before the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. NIV 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. CSB 9 For He spoke, and it came into being; He commanded, and it came into existence. NIV 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. CSB 10 The Lord frustrates the counsel of the nations; He thwarts the plans of the peoples. NIV 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. CSB 11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation. NIV 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. CSB 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord- the people He has chosen to be His own possession! NIV 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. CSB 13 The Lord looks down from heaven; He observes everyone. NIV 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; CSB 14 He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth from His dwelling place. NIV 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- CSB 15 He alone crafts their hearts; He considers all their works. NIV 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. CSB 16 A king is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be delivered by great strength. NIV 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. CSB 17 The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power. NIV 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. CSB 18 Now the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him- those who depend on His faithful love NIV 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, CSB 19 to deliver them from death and to keep them alive in famine. CSB 22 May Your faithful love rest on us, Lord, for we put our hope in You. NIV 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
