Psalm 33

GNT 1 All you that are righteous, shout for joy for what the Lord has done; praise him, all you that obey him. NIV 1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. GNT 2 Give thanks to the Lord with harps, sing to him with stringed instruments. NIV 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. GNT 3 Sing a new song to him, play the harp with skill, and shout for joy! NIV 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. GNT 4 The words of the Lord are true, and all his works are dependable. NIV 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. GNT 5 The Lord loves what is righteous and just; his constant love fills the earth. NIV 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. GNT 6 The Lord created the heavens by his command, the sun, moon, and stars by his spoken word. NIV 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. GNT 7 He gathered all the seas into one place; he shut up the ocean depths in storerooms. NIV 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. GNT 8 Worship the Lord, all the earth! Honor him, all peoples of the world! NIV 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. GNT 9 When he spoke, the world was created; at his command everything appeared. NIV 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. GNT 10 The Lord frustrates the purposes of the nations; he keeps them from carrying out their plans. NIV 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. GNT 11 But his plans endure forever; his purposes last eternally. NIV 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. GNT 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord; happy are the people he has chosen for his own! NIV 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. GNT 13 The Lord looks down from heaven and sees all of us humans. NIV 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; GNT 14 From where he rules, he looks down on all who live on earth. NIV 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- GNT 15 He forms all their thoughts and knows everything they do. NIV 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. GNT 16 A king does not win because of his powerful army; a soldier does not triumph because of his strength. NIV 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. GNT 17 War horses are useless for victory; their great strength cannot save. NIV 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. GNT 18 The Lord watches over those who obey him, those who trust in his constant love. NIV 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, GNT 19 He saves them from death; he keeps them alive in times of famine. NIV 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. GNT 20 We put our hope in the Lord; he is our protector and our help. NIV 20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. GNT 21 We are glad because of him; we trust in his holy name. NIV 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. GNT 22 May your constant love be with us, Lord, as we put our hope in you. NIV 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
