Psalm 33

LEB 1 Exult in Yahweh, O [you] righteous, [for] praise [is] fitting for the upright. NIV 1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. LEB 2 Give thanks to Yahweh with [the] lyre; with a harp of ten strings play to him. NIV 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. LEB 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully with jubilant shout. NIV 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. LEB 4 For the word of Yahweh [is] upright, and all his work [is done] in faithfulness. NIV 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. LEB 5 [He] loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the loyal love of Yahweh. NIV 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. LEB 6 By the word of Yahweh [the] heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. NIV 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. LEB 7 [He] gathered the waters of the sea like a heap. [He] put [the] deeps in storehouses. NIV 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. LEB 8 Let all the earth fear Yahweh. Let all [the] inhabitants of [the] world stand in awe of him. NIV 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. LEB 9 For {he himself spoke} and it came to pass. {He himself commanded} and it stood firm. NIV 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. LEB 10 Yahweh brings to nothing [the] plan of nations; he frustrates [the] intents of peoples. NIV 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. LEB 11 The plan of Yahweh stands firm forever, the intents of his heart {from one generation to the next}. NIV 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. LEB 12 Blessed [is] the nation whose God [is] Yahweh, the people he has chosen for his inheritance. NIV 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. LEB 13 From heaven Yahweh looks; he sees all the children of humankind. NIV 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; LEB 14 From his dwelling place he gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth, NIV 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- LEB 15 he who fashions altogether their heart, he who understands all their works. NIV 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. LEB 16 The king [is] not saved by [the] greatness of an army. The warrior is not delivered by [the] greatness of strength. NIV 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. LEB 17 The horse [is] a false hope for victory, nor can it save by the greatness of its power. NIV 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. LEB 18 Behold, the eye of Yahweh [is] on those who fear him, on those who hope for his loyal love NIV 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, LEB 19 to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine. NIV 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. LEB 20 Our soul waits for Yahweh; he [is] our help and our shield. NIV 20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. LEB 21 For in him our heart rejoices because in his holy name we trust. NIV 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. LEB 22 Let your loyal love, O Yahweh, be upon us, {even as} we hope in you. NIV 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
