Psalm 33

NRS 1 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous. Praise befits the upright. NIV 1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. NRS 2 Praise the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings. NIV 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. NRS 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. NIV 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. NRS 4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. NIV 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. NIV 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; NRS 14 From where he sits enthroned he watches all the inhabitants of the earth— NIV 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- NRS 15 he who fashions the hearts of them all, and observes all their deeds. NIV 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. NRS 16 A king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. NIV 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. NRS 17 The war horse is a vain hope for victory, and by its great might it cannot save. NRS 18 Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, NIV 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, NRS 19 to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
