Psalm 34

DBY 1 {[A Psalm] of David; when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.} I will bless Jehovah at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. NIV 1 I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. DBY 2 My soul shall make its boast in Jehovah: the meek shall hear, and rejoice. NIV 2 My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. DBY 3 Magnify Jehovah with me, and let us exalt his name together. NIV 3 Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. DBY 4 I sought Jehovah, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. NIV 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. DBY 5 They looked unto him, and were enlightened, and their faces were not confounded. NIV 5 Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. DBY 6 This afflicted one called, and Jehovah heard [him], and saved him out of all his troubles. NIV 6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. DBY 7 The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. NIV 7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. DBY 8 Taste and see that Jehovah is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him! NIV 8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. DBY 9 Fear Jehovah, ye his saints; for there is no want to them that fear him. NIV 9 Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. DBY 10 The young lions are in need and suffer hunger; but they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good. NIV 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. DBY 11 Come, ye sons, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah. NIV 11 Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. DBY 12 What man is he that desireth life, [and] loveth days, that he may see good? NIV 12 Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, DBY 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile; NIV 13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. DBY 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. NIV 14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. DBY 15 The eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous, and his ears are toward their cry; NIV 15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; DBY 16 The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth: NIV 16 the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. DBY 17 [The righteous] cry, and Jehovah heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. NIV 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. DBY 18 Jehovah is nigh to those that are of a broken heart, and saveth them that are of a contrite spirit. NIV 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. DBY 19 Many are the adversities of the righteous, but Jehovah delivereth him out of them all: NIV 19 A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; DBY 20 He keepeth all his bones; not one of them is broken. NIV 20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. DBY 21 Evil shall destroy the wicked; and they that hate the righteous shall bear their guilt. NIV 21 Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. DBY 22 Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants; and none of them that trust in him shall bear guilt. NIV 22 The LORD redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.
