CSB 1 Do not be agitated by evildoers; do not envy those who do wrong. NIV 1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; CSB 2 For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender green plants. NIV 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. CSB 3 Trust in the Lord and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. NIV 3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. CSB 4 Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart's desires. NIV 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. NIV 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. CSB 7 Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans. NIV 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. CSB 8 Refrain from anger and give up [your] rage; do not be agitated-it can only bring harm. NIV 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil. CSB 9 For evildoers will be destroyed, but those who put their hope in the Lord will inherit the land. NIV 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. CSB 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for him, he will not be there. NIV 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. CSB 11 But the humble will inherit the land and will enjoy abundant prosperity. NIV 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace. CSB 12 The wicked schemes against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him. NIV 12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; CSB 13 The Lord laughs at him because He sees that his day is coming. NIV 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming. CSB 14 The wicked have drawn the sword and strung the bow to bring down the afflicted and needy and to slaughter those whose way is upright. NIV 14 The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. CSB 15 Their swords will enter their own hearts, and their bows will be broken. NIV 15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken. CSB 16 Better the little that the righteous man has than the abundance of many wicked people. NIV 16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; CSB 17 For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord supports the righteous. NIV 17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. CSB 18 The Lord watches over the blameless all their days, and their inheritance will last forever. NIV 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. CSB 20 But the wicked will perish; the Lord's enemies, like the glory of the pastures, will fade away- they will fade away like smoke. NIV 20 But the wicked will perish: The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish--vanish like smoke. CSB 21 The wicked borrows and does not repay, but the righteous is gracious and giving. NIV 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; CSB 22 Those who are blessed by Him will inherit the land, but those cursed by Him will be destroyed. NIV 22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be cut off. CSB 23 A man's steps are established by the Lord, and He takes pleasure in his way. NIV 23 If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm; CSB 24 Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord holds his hand. NIV 24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand. CSB 25 I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging bread. They are kept safe forever, but the children of the wicked will be destroyed. NIV 28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off; CSB 29 The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it permanently. You will watch when the wicked are destroyed. NIV 34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it. CSB 35 I have seen a wicked, violent man well-rooted like a flourishing native tree.
