Psalm 37

YLT 1 By David. Do not fret because of evil doers, Be not envious against doers of iniquity, NIV 1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; YLT 2 For as grass speedily they are cut off, And as the greenness of the tender grass do fade. NIV 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. YLT 3 Trust in Jehovah, and do good, Dwell [in] the land, and enjoy faithfulness, NIV 3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. YLT 4 And delight thyself on Jehovah, And He giveth to thee the petitions of thy heart. NIV 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. YLT 5 Roll on Jehovah thy way, And trust upon Him, and He worketh, NIV 5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: YLT 6 And hath brought out as light thy righteousness, And thy judgment as noon-day. NIV 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. YLT 7 Be silent for Jehovah, and stay thyself for Him, Do not fret because of him Who is making prosperous his way, Because of a man doing wicked devices. NIV 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. YLT 8 Desist from anger, and forsake fury, Fret not thyself only to do evil. NIV 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil. YLT 9 For evil doers are cut off, As to those waiting on Jehovah, they possess the land. NIV 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. YLT 10 And yet a little, and the wicked is not, And thou hast considered his place, and it is not. NIV 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. YLT 11 And the humble do possess the land, And they have delighted themselves In the abundance of peace. NIV 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace. YLT 12 The wicked is devising against the righteous, And gnashing against him his teeth. NIV 12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; YLT 13 The Lord doth laugh at him, For He hath seen that his day cometh. NIV 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming. YLT 14 A sword have the wicked opened, And they have trodden their bow, To cause to fall the poor and needy, To slaughter the upright of the way. NIV 14 The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. YLT 15 Their sword doth enter into their own heart, And their bows are shivered. NIV 15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken. YLT 16 Better [is] the little of the righteous, Than the store of many wicked. NIV 16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; YLT 17 For the arms of the wicked are shivered, And Jehovah is sustaining the righteous. NIV 17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. YLT 18 Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect, And their inheritance is -- to the age. NIV 18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure forever. YLT 19 They are not ashamed in a time of evil, And in days of famine they are satisfied. NIV 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. YLT 20 But the wicked perish, and the enemies of Jehovah, As the preciousness of lambs, Have been consumed, In smoke they have been consumed. NIV 20 But the wicked will perish: The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish--vanish like smoke. YLT 21 The wicked is borrowing and repayeth not, And the righteous is gracious and giving. NIV 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; YLT 22 For His blessed ones do possess the land, And His reviled ones are cut off. NIV 22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be cut off. YLT 23 From Jehovah [are] the steps of a man, They have been prepared, And his way he desireth. NIV 23 If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm; YLT 24 When he falleth, he is not cast down, For Jehovah is sustaining his hand. NIV 24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand. YLT 25 Young I have been, I have also become old, And I have not seen the righteous forsaken, And his seed seeking bread. NIV 25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. YLT 26 All the day he is gracious and lending, And his seed [is] for a blessing. NIV 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed. YLT 27 Turn aside from evil, and do good, and dwell to the age. NIV 27 Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. YLT 28 For Jehovah is loving judgment, And He doth not forsake His saintly ones, To the age they have been kept, And the seed of the wicked is cut off. NIV 28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off; YLT 29 The righteous possess the land, And they dwell for ever on it. NIV 29 the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever. YLT 30 The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, And his tongue speaketh judgment. NIV 30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. YLT 31 The law of his God [is] his heart, His steps do not slide. NIV 31 The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip. YLT 32 The wicked is watching for the righteous, And is seeking to put him to death. NIV 32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, seeking their very lives; YLT 33 Jehovah doth not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him in his being judged. NIV 33 but the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned when brought to trial. YLT 34 Look unto Jehovah, and keep His way, And He doth exalt thee to possess the land, In the wicked being cut off -- thou seest! NIV 34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it. YLT 35 I have seen the wicked terrible, And spreading as a green native plant, NIV 35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a green tree in its native soil, YLT 36 And he passeth away, and lo, he is not, And I seek him, and he is not found! NIV 36 but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found. YLT 37 Observe the perfect, and see the upright, For the latter end of each [is] peace. NIV 37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future for the man of peace. YLT 38 And transgressors were destroyed together, The latter end of the wicked was cut off. NIV 38 But all sinners will be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off. YLT 39 And the salvation of the righteous [is] from Jehovah, Their strong place in a time of adversity. NIV 39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. YLT 40 And Jehovah doth help them and deliver them, He delivereth them from the wicked, And saveth them, Because they trusted in Him! NIV 40 The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
