Psalm 50

LEB 1 The Supreme God, God, Yahweh, has spoken and summoned [the] earth, from [the] rising of [the] sun to its setting. NIV 1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. LEB 2 From Zion, [the] perfection of beauty, God shines forth. NIV 2 From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. LEB 3 Our God comes and he is not silent. Before him fire devours, and around him it is very tempestuous. NIV 3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. LEB 4 He summons the heavens above and the earth that he might judge his people: NIV 4 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people: LEB 5 "Gather to me my loyal ones, [those] who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice." NIV 5 "Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice." LEB 6 And [the] heavens declare his righteousness, because God himself is judge. Selah NIV 6 And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. "Selah" LEB 7 "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you. I am God, your God. NIV 7 "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. LEB 8 It is not concerning [a lack of] your sacrifices [that] I rebuke you, and your burnt offerings [are] before me continually. NIV 8 I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me. LEB 9 I will not take from your house a bull [or] from your stalls a he-goat, NIV 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, LEB 10 because every animal of the forest is mine, [the] cattle on a thousand hills. NIV 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. LEB 11 I know every bird of [the] mountains, and [every] moving creature in [the] field [is] mine. NIV 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. LEB 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, because [the] world and its fullness [are] mine. NIV 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. LEB 13 Do I eat [the] flesh of bulls or drink [the] blood of goats? NIV 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? LEB 14 Offer to God a thank offering and pay your vows to [the] Most High. NIV 14 Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, LEB 15 And call me in [the] day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify me." NIV 15 and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." LEB 16 But to the wicked God says, "What [right] have you to recite my statutes and {mention my covenant with your mouth}, NIV 16 But to the wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? LEB 17 while you yourself hate discipline, and cast my words behind you? NIV 17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. LEB 18 When you see a thief, then you are pleased with him, and your association [is] with adulterers. NIV 18 When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. LEB 19 You give your mouth free rein for evil, and you harness your tongue to deceit. NIV 19 You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. LEB 20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your mother's son. NIV 20 You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son. LEB 21 These [things] you have done, and I have been silent; You imagined that I was just like you. I will rebuke you and present [an argument] before your eyes. NIV 21 These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face. LEB 22 Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear [you] apart, and there [will be] none to deliver. NIV 22 "Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue: LEB 23 He who sacrifices a thank offering honors me, and he [who] orders [his] way; I will show him the salvation of God." NIV 23 He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."
