Psalm 50

WBT 1 A Psalm of Asaph. The mighty God, [even] the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising to the setting of the sun. NIV 1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. WBT 2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. NIV 2 From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. WBT 3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous around him. NIV 3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. WBT 4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. NIV 4 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people: WBT 5 Gather my saints together to me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. NIV 5 "Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice." WBT 6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God [is] judge himself. Selah. NIV 6 And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. "Selah" WBT 7 Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I [am] God, [even] thy God. NIV 7 "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. WBT 8 I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt-offerings, [to have been] continually before me. NIV 8 I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me. WBT 9 I will take no bullock out of thy house, [nor] he-goats out of thy folds. NIV 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, WBT 10 For every beast of the forest [is] mine, [and] the cattle upon a thousand hills. NIV 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. WBT 11 I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field [are] mine. NIV 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. WBT 12 If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world [is] mine, and the fullness thereof. NIV 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. WBT 13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? NIV 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? WBT 14 Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows to the Most High: NIV 14 Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, WBT 15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. NIV 15 and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." WBT 16 But to the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or [that] thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? NIV 16 But to the wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? WBT 17 Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. NIV 17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. WBT 18 When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. NIV 18 When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. WBT 19 Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. NIV 19 You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. WBT 20 Thou sittest [and] speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thy own mother's son. NIV 20 You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son. WBT 21 These [things] hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether [such an one] as thyself: [but] I will reprove thee, and set [them] in order before thine eyes. NIV 21 These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face. WBT 22 Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear [you] in pieces, and [there be] none to deliver. NIV 22 "Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue: WBT 23 Whoever offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth [his] deportment [aright] will I show the salvation of God. NIV 23 He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."
