Psalm 52

ASV 1 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God [endureth] continually. NIV 1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? ASV 2 Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. NIV 2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. ASV 3 Thou lovest evil more than good, And lying rather than to speak righteousness. [Selah NIV 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. "Selah" ASV 4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. NIV 4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue! ASV 5 God will likewise destroy thee for ever; He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent, And root thee out of the land of the living. [Selah NIV 5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. "Selah" ASV 6 The righteous also shall see [it], and fear, And shall laugh at him, [saying], NIV 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at him, saying, ASV 7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness. NIV 7 "Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!" ASV 8 But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever. NIV 8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever. ASV 9 I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it; And I will hope in thy name, for it is good, in the presence of thy saints. NIV 9 I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.
