NKJV 1 To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of David when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, and said to him, 'David has gone to the house of Ahimelech.' Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually. NIV 1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? NKJV 2 Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. NIV 2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. NKJV 3 You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah NIV 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. "Selah" NKJV 4 You love all devouring words, You deceitful tongue. NIV 4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue! NKJV 5 God shall likewise destroy you forever; He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah NIV 5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. "Selah" NKJV 6 The righteous also shall see and fear, And shall laugh at him, saying, NIV 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at him, saying, NKJV 7 "Here is the man who did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness." NIV 7 "Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!" NKJV 8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever. NIV 8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever. NKJV 9 I will praise You forever, Because You have done it; And in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good. NIV 9 I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.
