Psalm 52

NLT 1 Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior? Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever? NIV 1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? NLT 2 All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you’re an expert at telling lies. NIV 2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. NLT 3 You love evil more than good and lies more than truth. Interlude NIV 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. "Selah" NLT 4 You love to destroy others with your words, you liar! NIV 4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue! NLT 5 But God will strike you down once and for all. He will pull you from your home and uproot you from the land of the living. Interlude NIV 5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. "Selah" NLT 6 The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say, NIV 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at him, saying, NLT 7 “Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.” NIV 7 "Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!" NLT 8 But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God’s unfailing love. NIV 8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever. NLT 9 I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people. NIV 9 I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.
